ICMS 2023 Sessions

Hi everyone,

Just a few reminders about the upcoming International Medieval Congress that will take place May 11-13, 2023. I hope you have all been able to register and are finding lots of interesting sessions in the program. An important thing to remember is that the Congress organizers have arranged for in-person attendees to reserve rooms in which to gather if they wish to for virtual sessions. A list of those reserved rooms will be available at the registration tables.

  1. We hope to see many of you at our Christine de Pizan sessions. Both of our sessions will be recorded and therefore available to registrants to view through the end of May. They will be:

Session 187, Friday May 12, 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. EDT [Hybrid; taking place in Schneider 1340 for those who attend the conference in person]

Session 356, Saturday May 13, 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. EDT [Virtual; we have reserved Schneider 1220 so in-person attendees may gather there if they’d like]

Remembering Great Christine de Pizan Scholars

Presider: Christine Reno, Vassar College

A roundtable discussion with Tina-Marie Ranalli, Independent Scholar; Geri Smith, Univ. of Central Florida; Charles-Louis Morand-Métivier, Univ. of Vermont; and Earl Jeffrey Richards, Bergische Univ. Wuppertal.

 

2.      We also hope that you will join us for the ICPS-NAB Business Meeting which will take place virtually on Saturday May 13, noon – 1:00 p.m. EDT. Again, Schneider 1220 will be reserved for use by in-person attendees. Please feel free to join the meeting late if you are planning to attend Suzanne Savoy’s performance of Le Dit de Poissy which is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. that day in Fetzer.

 

  1. If you will be attending in person and would like to meet up with others in the group for dinner on Saturday evening, please reach out to Julia Nephew to let her know: nephewja[at sign]yahoo.com
  1. We’d also like to make you aware of a few other sessions that might be of interest, organized by the Jean Gerson and Alain Chartier societies. They are virtual sessions, but in-person participants who would like to attend together may convene for them in Schneider 1220. Make sure to bring your laptop!

Session 195, Friday 10 a.m. -11:30 a.m. EDT, “Letters, Speeches, Polemics, and More: Personal Address and Textual Networks in the Global Fifteenth Century” [this conflicts with our hybrid session 187, but it will be recorded]

Friday 12 noon-1:00 p.m. EDT, International Alain Chartier Society and Jean Gerson joint business meeting

Session 242, Friday 1:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m. EDT, “Constructing the European Other in the Global Fifteenth Century”
